Fowl Typhoid

Fowl typhoid is a septicaemic disease of old age chicken, cause’s high mortality. It caused due to salmonella gallinarum.

Disease will be transmitted through ingestion, inhalation, fomites, visitors and vertical transmission.

Symptoms are high mortality up to 50%, depressed, ruffled feathers, eye closed, dead in shell, anaemia and watery to mucoid yellow diarrhoea. Important post mortem finding is liver become coppery bonze sheen on surface.

Treatment with antibiotics and supplementation of vital nutrients will reduce symptoms and mortality.
