Anestrum

Anestrus is the condition where the animal does not exhibit normal estrous cycles. Anestrum is the principal sign of many conditions that affect the estrous cycle. It is the most common single cause for infertility in cattle. Anestrum may occur in animals in the post partum period or post service period or in heifers as a herd problem accompanied by low nutritive intake. Since Anestrum is due to multiple causes, corrective measures will be based on history and physical examination of the animals.
